Welcome to this week’s Mosaic Chain Developer Update! As we continue working on our infrastructure and onboarding experience, our focus has been on enhancing devnet connectivity, optimizing Validator OS, and addressing key UI improvements. We’ve also encountered some unexpected challenges, such as Polkadot’s upcoming address format transition. Read on to see our progress and what’s coming next!
This Week’s Progress (Jan 27 – Jan 31)
Indexer 2.0
The Mosaic Chain devnet successfully connected to the Polkadot test network, but this revealed several issues within the Indexer. We dedicated the entire week to fixing these bugs to ensure that we can provide a working URL.
Onboarding Components Development
We initiated the development of key components required for onboarding, focusing on the Minting Service and the Admin backend functionalities.
Validator OS Installer Optimization
We tested and modified the Validator OS Installer to ensure seamless connectivity to the devnet.
UI Enhancements
We continued the UI developments identified at the end of December. There have been no significant changes to our roadmap in this area, and we are steadily working through our planned updates.
Unexpected Devnet Downtime
We encountered an unexpected devnet downtime—not due to our infrastructure, but because Paseo’s administrators misconfigured our registered slot. It took a full day of investigation and direct communication with them to uncover the root cause. Moving forward, we will proactively investigate whether the same issue exists for our mainnet slot to prevent similar disruptions.

Polkadot Address Format Transition
We will discuss and begin developing the necessary changes related to the Polkadot address format transition. See the Current State & Plans section below for more details.
Devnet Infrastructure Enhancements
We aim to achieve 100% monitoring for the devnet infrastructure, ensuring full observability of system performance and reliability. Additionally, we will begin implementing extra security measures.
Further Indexer 2.0 Improvements
If all issues are resolved, we will proceed with performance optimizations and writing additional test cases for Indexer 2.0.
UI Development Continues
Our UI development efforts will continue as per the identified requirements.
Validator OS 2.0 Onboarding Preparation
We are finalizing preparations for Validator OS 2.0 onboarding, which we expect to complete by the end of the week.
Current State & Plans
Polkadot Address Format Transition Challenges
As we mentioned last week, the devnet onboarding is facing minor delays. Compounding this, the Polkadot community has decided to introduce a new address format, which brings an unknown amount of extra work. We will assess the full impact at the beginning of next week and refine our plans accordingly.
We have made the strategic decision to implement these changes before devnet onboarding, as integrating such a major change afterward would be significantly more complex.
Devnet Readiness
The devnet is already live—the only missing piece is the public URL, which depends solely on completing the Indexer fixes. All other components are functioning as expected, and we are pushing to resolve the final Indexer issues as soon as possible.
