Indexer 2.0 Performance Testing
We focused on measuring and preparing for performance testing of Indexer 2.0.
Devnet Preparations
- Significant progress was made towards launching the devnet. However, due to the complexity of our tokenomics (particularly the intensive calculations required at the end of long session blocks), we had to implement code changes to distribute these calculations across multiple blocks.
- While this introduced some delays, the good news is that solutions are now in place to address the challenges effectively.
Telemetry Dashboard Planning
We began designing a telemetry dashboard that will provide extensive statistics on the status of the chain and its components. This tool will be operational even on the devnet, giving us real-time insights into system performance.
Onboarding Process for the Chain
We completed the planning phase for the chain-side onboarding process. Implementation will begin in early January due to the end-of-year holiday schedules.
Plans for Next Week
Devnet Issues and Potential Launch
We aim to resolve remaining devnet-related issues with the goal of possibly launching the network before Christmas. However, this remains uncertain and might shift to early January.
Indexer 2.0 Performance Testing
The preparatory work for performance testing will be completed, and the actual measurements will begin.
Validator OS 2.0 Development
We will start implementing Validator OS 2.0, focusing on enabling network switching—a critical feature for future flexibility and functionality.
Current Status and Roadmap Insights
Devnet Timeline
- A devnet launch by mid-January seems more realistic than before Christmas. While this impacts onboarding for validators, it does not affect the projected mainnet launch schedule.
- The devnet launch itself involves setting up the blockchain network and connecting it to Polkadot.
Validator Onboarding and Rewards:
The validator onboarding process, where validators connect to the devnet using the new Validator OS, is aligned with our roadmap for January 2025.
