As we move closer to the mainnet launch, the Mosaic Chain development team has made steady progress this week across critical areas of the network. Below is a summary of what we achieved and what lies ahead.
This Week’s Key Developments (March 31 to April 4)
Bug Fixes in Devnet Onboarding Components
We fixed several issues affecting the devnet onboarding process. These included bugs in the indexer, minting service, and the chain itself.
Substrate SDK Upgrade on the Testnet
The testnet has been updated with a version of the chain that now includes an almost up-to-date version of the Substrate SDK. This brings us closer to full compatibility with the latest ecosystem improvements.
Engaging External Expertise for Substrate Issues
We’ve reached out to a third-party expert to assist in identifying and resolving some deeper Substrate-related bugs.
Continued Testing of Devnet Onboarding
Internal testing of the devnet onboarding process remains ongoing to ensure a seamless experience.
Indexer Compatibility Patch Testing
We are testing an indexer-level patch necessary for running the chain with the updated Substrate SDK version.
Plans for next week (April 7–11)
Finalize Indexer Fix and Resume Onboarding Tests
Once the indexer patch and code review are complete, internal devnet onboarding testing will continue.
Progress on Lower-Priority UI Tasks
Development of UI features with lower priority will also resume.
Ongoing Mosaic Telemetry Development
We continue to develop the Mosaic Telemetry Dashboard, which will offer deep insights into network health and validator activity.
Current Status
Substrate Issues Remain
Some bugs in Substrate—particularly related to warp sync—persist and remain high priority. We’re working closely with external support to address these.
New System Administrator Onboarded
This week marked the onboarding of our new system administrator, who is currently in training.
Timeframe for Devnet Testing Narrowing
The long time window originally planned between devnet onboarding and mainnet launch was dedicated to thorough devnet testing. This window is gradually shrinking — while it does not risk the mainnet launch, it is essential to ensure a safe and stable rollout. Every bug we fix now directly contributes to mainnet reliability.
Bug Origins: Complexity and Dependencies
While a few bugs arise from our own development, the majority are due to the inherent complexity of the project and the current state of Substrate/Polkadot codebases.
We appreciate your continued support as we build the foundation for a powerful, next-generation blockchain network. Stay tuned for next week’s progress update!
