Another productive week is behind us at Mosaic Chain. Our focus this time was on testing and refining the onboarding process for our testnet, as well as addressing key issues to ensure a smooth experience for upcoming devnet participants.
Highlights from this week (March 17–21)
Testnet Onboarding Testing & Fixes:
We spent the week testing the testnet onboarding flow and fixing all related bugs to improve the reliability and clarity of the process.
Private Onboarding Walkthrough Session:
We hosted a private onboarding demo for a small group of users on the testnet. The feedback was extremely valuable — it highlighted areas where our documentation could be expanded and pointed out a few minor gaps we’re now addressing.
Indexer Improvements:
We resolved multiple stability and data aggregation issues in the indexer to ensure accurate and real-time data handling.
UI, Chain, and Validator OS Updates:
Development in these areas was exclusively focused on fixing onboarding-related issues and optimizing the user experience during validator setup.
What’s coming next (March 24–28)
Devnet Onboarding Testing (Top Priority):
We will shift our focus to thoroughly testing the devnet onboarding flow. This will be the primary objective next week.
Implementation of Demo Feedback:
Based on the onboarding walkthrough feedback, we’ll make several adjustments to improve clarity, documentation, and ease of use.
Final Fixes for Testnet Onboarding:
We’ll wrap up any last issues related to testnet onboarding within the indexer and UI components.
Substrate Bug Investigation:
We will start actively investigating a Substrate-related bug that could impact the mainnet.
Current status and outlook
Devnet Onboarding Progress:
Aside from one known minor issue, the devnet onboarding is operational but still needs more testing. Several improvements have been identified, which we aim to address and retest during the week of March 24. Ideally, we’ll be able to open it to the broader public after this phase.
Polkadot/Substrate Ecosystem Challenges:
We continue to encounter unexpected bugs within the Polkadot (Substrate) ecosystem. One such issue was discovered during testnet onboarding and caused delays. Unfortunately, we haven’t yet received responses from the broader Polkadot
Team Expansion:
We have two very promising system administrator candidates, and we plan to move forward with hiring one of them soon.
Mainnet Launch:
Despite the above challenges, the mainnet launch remains on track and is not currently at risk.
