Blockchain technology was also a topic of discussion at the Club of Logistics Managers at Large Corporations event in Siófok on May 20–22. The presentations addressed problems, challenges, the impact of geopolitical conflicts, and the emergence of artificial intelligence and robotics. Logistics was one of the first sectors to adopt blockchain technology, emphasized Attila Vidákovics in his presentation. While these solutions are already more widespread internationally, industry players here in Hungary are also recognizing the challenges and exploring new opportunities. We are not at the forefront, but the gap is not insurmountable, and it is now clear to everyone that blockchain technology is not synonymous with cryptocurrencies. It is primarily used for data authentication and tracking goods, since multiple stakeholders and interests are involved, making it crucial that every step be authentically documented. These new solutions reduce administrative costs and make it easier to handle disputes.
The transition to blockchain technology does not mean scrapping the entire current IT system. Certain functions can be integrated into existing solutions; it is not necessary to consider only the implementation of a costly, entirely new system. Meanwhile, the technology itself is evolving—the solutions used when it was first introduced in 2018 have advanced significantly and can be expanded with new features. These years are considered a historic period in the history of blockchain technology.
